I earned my MCSD and MCSE way back in 1999, getting certified on SQL Server 6.5 and 2000 along the way. A nice and quiet career as a developer followed. And then I spent a decade at ExactTarget and the Salesforce Marketing Cloud and found out what real databases were like.
I’ve been a part of other great organizations since then, including SparkCognition Government Systems (now Avathon), where I helped deliver AI answers to important questions in the defense industry. And I made a return to my favorite consulting firm, Theoris, where they put my talent to use for customers in the healthcare and insurance industries.
I became a Salesforce boomerang in 2024, joining a team of database-centric engineers dedicated to keeping the Marketing Cloud’s trust site green 24/7. Obsessed with speed, when I’m not writing code that makes data go fast, I’m talking about it at data community events.

Other adventures:
- Speaking of speed, from 2012 to 2017, I turned my love of racing in general and IndyCar in particular into service for God by managing the online assets of the IndyCar Ministry. It’s a wonderfully unique ministry, and I was delighted to be a part of it.
- I was honored to serve as a Program Manager for PASS from 2017 to 2021, and worked to help shape the content of the PASS Summit. Redgate’s Summit continues to be the best annual event for connecting with peers in my industry.
- If you live near me and are a fan of the Beautiful Game, you might be interested in Blue River Soccer or Triton Central, where I was a soccer coach for a very long time.
- Lastly, I can’t help but shamelessly plug the best accountants in the world at JVG and Associates.
